Mondays Work

Sooo.. Yesterday was yet another productive day with the whole.. Image-recording thing..

First as a few of you were there.. we shot Nathan doing his ninja thing while waiting for visual culture to start at the NGA.. and to be honest I can't pick between 4 images of the same flip.. I like them all!.. they are

(1)
(2)
(3)
(4)

Then there was one more image I liked from the same "shoot"..

So thanks Nath for playing ninja.. We'll have to do it again next week.. but next time we will explore more!

Annyway.. later that day I was asked to go out and shoot a friend of my brothers' at Lake George, hang-gliding.. My bro and I went out and after we arrived they were setting up so I ran arround shooting some "typical australian" landscapes, of which two stood out.. of the same subject, just in different orientations.. I prefer the portrait composition (the way the two primary subjects are dead on the intersection of the third lines, and the lack of distractions to the left and right).. but I much prefer landscapes to be.. well.. landscape..

Then, after take off, I shot them for a while using a long lense then we (my brother and I) drove down to where they told us they would land, and I shot them landing. Funnily enough, in the half an hour they were in the air, my favourite shots were made in the last minute before landing..

I have plenty of close ups and wide shots, but these two stood out to me.. the first cause it had the two of them in frame.. and the second because of the angle and the way the scene is lit..

Finally I fired off a shot of my brother as a record and a note to myself.. Lake George is going to make one hell of a location to shoot in the future.. especially if it gets foggy!!

See you all at school..

B / W

So of late I've been shooting a few Black & Whites which is kind've fitting as we will be doing b&w film, so I'm in the zooone.

Here are some recent shots I did of a mate kick-boxing for some kick-boxing magazines photography comp.. Haven't heard if I'll be in the mag, but I presume I wont be at as I submitted them a while ago and haven't heard anything since.

I took some other shots more recently, in fact this weekend. All of these pics I took on film first then shot a digital copy of. So these pics are what I am aiming for when I process on Wednesday. Fingers crossed..

DeviantArt

So for my second blog, I figured I'd advertise to all my wonderful classmates about a little website called DeviantArt.. and don't worry.. It really isn't that deviant..

The little slideshow I did in my last post was made using photos from DeviantArt so it can be pretty handy.

Head over to www.deviantart.com.

It is basically a site like flikr, but it is more orientated around commenting and providing feed back to other people on the site.

My username on the site is "theperfectjez" ... forgive me, I made it up when I was in Year 5. So that makes the URL to my page www.theperfectjez.deviantart.com.

There is also a club that myself and a 2nd year CIT student named Julian started for photographers (and other artist) in the ACT. Every now and then we all catch up and take some photos, but it is a good way of meeting other photographers in the ACT.

The club is called DeviACT (so it is www.deviact.deviantart.com).

So everyones welcome.. Join up, and when you send the club a note saying you want to join, make sure you mention your from CIT.

Peace

A Taste and a Test

Soo I figured I'd sit down tonight while watching Underbelly: A Tale of Two Cities and figure out this blog thing. It is pretty basic especially after having created Journals in DeviantArt..

Speaking of which I thought I'd try and use some kind of embedded link to put a collection of photos on my blog.

The collection is of my most "popular" pics as rated by others online. Hope it works.. It is one hell of a lot of HTML.

Cool, so after previewing, looks pretty cool.

Enjoy!
